The ER for Coaches
If you fall and the pain is unbearable, don’t brush it off as a sprain like me, go to A & E.
Don’t walk on it for a week because it could be fractured in 2 places.

There are often times in our business when we stumble and can’t get back on track or lose our way and don’t know where to turn.
As a coach, you know we have coaches for a reason. Knowing when to reach out to your coach is a vital part of your business strategy.
When I fell in the mountains, my hiking buddies literally had to coach me to walk correctly. ??♀️
Telling me how to plant my feet, how to navigate rocky and muddy tracks and be safe on the slippery slopes.
At that point, I was in such excruciating pain, that everything I knew about walking seemed to go out the window.
I was making weird movements, just to try to avoid putting pressure on my foot. Often those movements were unsafe and made my journey more difficult, but it was ok for me at the time, because my mindset was clouded.
It’s not uncommon to experience similar cloudiness in your coaching business. For example, if facing financial struggles, it can be tempting to opt for quick fixes that compromise their long-term professional integrity and reputation. For example, a coach might resort to aggressive sales tactics, overpromising in situations or reducing their prices to an unsustainable amount to secure more clients quickly. While this approach might bring immediate client influx and revenue, it can harm the coach’s credibility and trustworthiness in the long run. These hasty actions, similar to the unsafe walking manoeuvres, offer temporary ease but at the expense of sustainable, ethical and financial coaching practices. It’s a balancing act that many coaches face, where the urgency to fill client slots can overshadow the need for authentic, value-driven coaching relationships. This approach can lead to a cycle of short-term gains but long-term professional setbacks, impacting the coach’s ability to build a reputable and enduring practice… do you see the similarities?
I had to surrender to the fact that I needed support to get off that mountain before it was too dark, and my fellow hikers were committed to helping me do it safely: Just like a coach is committed to helping you!
They were experienced and equipped with helpful aids, like a machete, rope, and pain relief cream, ?? and they had the patience to stick with me through the whole ordeal, despite my crying out “Just leave me here to die” and “This is hopeless, save yourselves” more than once in fits of frustration. ??
The Lesson learned; was that coaching comes in many different guises. Being able to count on help from someone dependable, to navigate a difficult path is a huge gift.
Discerning when to reach out, is a skill.
Falling is often unavoidable, but sustained suffering is a choice.
Investing some time in a coach-to-coach session might be all the resuscitation that you need.
