Flower Essence Cards, Emotional Healing, and the Holy Spirit:
What Every Kingdom Leader Should Know
This insight was born out of a deeply important moment inside Deployed, my 21-day activation experience.
We had a vulnerable moment shared around the use of Flower Essence Cards in the wellness and coaching space practice which brought up some emotions.
This moment of vulnerability opened up a needed moment of clarity and alignment. And in responding, I sensed the Holy Spirit inviting us to go deeper, not just for her benefit but for the benefit of all of us as Kingdom leaders. My response brought perspective from a Kingdom lens, and today I want to offer that same message more widely.
This follow-up is not just for those who use or have questions about the use of flower essence cards. It is for every believer who desires to walk in mature Kingdom leadership, emotional stewardship, and spiritual discernment. Whether this is relevant to your own life or a future encounter with someone who needs clarity, compassion, and truth, it is important that we are equipped.
I share this not to judge, that is not my role, and I believe the Word when it says there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
Education and support are key, and we must approach these matters with love, wisdom, and truth. All too often in the body of Christ the response to difficult questions is simply “go read your Bible” without any signposting or practical guidance. As a result, many read without the tools to interpret deeply and end up operating within blurred lines, hiding, feeling isolated, or even victimised.
I do not have all the answers, nor am I a Bible scholar yet, but I want to share what I have learned so that anyone seeking direction can find a starting point.
Let us get into it.
Understanding the Spiritual Framework Behind the Tools We Use
Flower essences may be natural, but the delivery and spiritual framework surrounding them can often be rooted in New Age beliefs that focus on energy healing ‘separate’ from the Holy Spirit, removing Him from the process of healing altogether.
Biblical Context on Herbs and Incense
The Old Testament prescribes specific incense blends—stacte, onycha, galbanum, and frankincense—for the tabernacle (Exodus 30:34–38), reserved for priestly worship. Likewise, hyssop appears in Scripture not as a talisman but as a symbol of God’s cleansing power (Psalm 51:7; Numbers 19:17–18). In every case, it is God who provides true purification and protection, never the plant itself.
This is why, for all of us, it is so important to do our homework on any tools we are using, especially when it comes to emotional or spiritual well-being.
As Kingdom-minded believers, we are called to seek soul and spiritual healing through God’s Word and His Spirit. Our spirit is the place of divine connection, where God dwells within us. So, while tools may support our journey, they should never replace the power of God or cause us to lean more on them than we do on Him.
The issue is not the flower itself. God created the flower. The concern is the spiritual framework behind how it is being used.
If a product is being used for emotional alignment or inner healing, we must ask ourselves:
- Is this drawing me closer to Jesus, or subtly replacing Him?

Discernment is essential. We are living in times where many New Age practices are being disguised as healing but are actually designed to bypass or replace the true source, God Himself.
Hebrews 5:14 reminds us that mature believers have “their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” Discernment is not automatic, it is developed. And it becomes critical when solutions appear helpful on the surface but misalign at the source.
Yes, God can and does use natural things. Jesus used mud and spit to heal (John 9:6). But when the healing process begins to assign power to a product that claims to work through unseen energy or spiritual alignment without involving the Holy Spirit, we must pause and test the source.
This is also why it is important to name the Spirit when we speak about Him. There are many spirits, but only one Holy Spirit. That clarity matters. As 1 Corinthians 12:3 says, “No one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” Naming the Spirit is not legalism, it is spiritual specificity. If we do not name Him, we risk giving room to other spirits that are not of God but masquerade as light (2 Corinthians 11:14).
Is It Divination or Just a Natural Tool?
One of the most important distinctions for any Kingdom leader is knowing where a natural tool ends and divination begins.
Divination, by biblical definition, is the pursuit of hidden knowledge, direction, or power through spiritual means outside of God’s will (Deuteronomy 18:10–12; Acts 16:16–18). Tarot, pendulums, mediums, and rituals all clearly cross that line. But what about more benign-seeming practices like flower essences or crystals?
Here’s a helpful lens to discern:
-
Physical support vs Spiritual claim
-
Physical support relies on tangible, created properties: warmth, calming scent, muscle-relaxing compounds (think a hot water bottle, herbal tea or essential-oil aroma).
-
Spiritual claim happens when you attribute unseen “energy” or “vibration” in the item itself as the source of emotional or soul-level healing apart from the Holy Spirit. That step shifts you into divination territory.
-
-
Key question
“Am I using this for its created, natural effects — or am I invoking it as a spiritual power?”
-
If the former, it’s likely being used as a support tool.
-
If the latter, you’re making a spiritual claim that belongs to God alone.
-
-
Examples
-
Likely not divination: Using natural herbal remedies for their calming, muscle-relaxing benefits.
-
Potential divination: Sprinkling “vibrational flower essence” to “align chakras” without Scripture or prayer.
-
-
Remember your heart posture
It’s not the thing itself but the intent behind it. Even something as innocent as a flower card can become a spiritual trap if it shifts your dependence away from Christ. At the end of the day, it’s not just about the tool — it’s about the posture and intention behind how you’re showing up.
A Simple Rule to Remember
- If it claims to treat the body, it may be medicine.
- If it claims to heal the soul or spirit, it must come from God.
Psalm 147:3 says, “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” The Hebrew word for “binds” here (chabash) refers to the care given by a skilled physician. God does not outsource soul-healing. It is His breath within us that gives us life, after all. He is both the physician and the place of healing. This is why we cannot assign healing power to what He hasn’t commissioned.
Stay discerning, not dismissive. Reflect before you reject. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in truth, not trends.

Next Steps and Kingdom Responsibility
As Kingdom leaders and believers in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we are called to lead with discernment. If a tool or practice causes us to depend more on it than on God, it deserves closer inspection.
Pray, do your homework, and reflect on what is driving your choices. Let the Holy Spirit lead you. Do this with a heart and mind not attached to the outcome.
– You are not trying to prove something is acceptable, as that leans into justification.
– You are not justifying. You are testing the spirit.
This is a Kingdom principle we must all apply to the things we invite into our spiritual walk.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. – 1 John 4:1
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” – Psalm 119:105
Allow the Word lead us back to the source of all healing, clarity, and truth.
Reflect, Pray, Align
If you have ever used or considered using tools for emotional support, pause today and invite the Holy Spirit to speak. Ask Him:
Is there anything I have welcomed that replaces You instead of leading me to You?
We are not called to walk in fear or superstition. We are called to walk in discernment, led by the Spirit of truth.
Journal Prompt:
What tools or practices have you used to support your emotions?
What have you leaned on more than you have leaned on the Holy Spirit?
Is there anything I have welcomed that replaces God instead of leading me to Him?
Reminder: We are not called to walk in fear or superstition. We are called to walk in discernment, led by the Spirit of truth.

Further Reading in the Word
To go deeper, approach these passages with prayer and curiosity. Read each scripture slowly, asking the Holy Spirit to illuminate what applies to your own journey. Consider journaling your insights and questions, then meditate on how God’s truth shapes your understanding of healing and discernment.
- Psalm 139 – Invite God to search your heart and reveal hidden ways.
- Galatians 5 – Reflect on the difference between walking in the Spirit and following the flesh.
- 1 Corinthians 2 – Explore how true wisdom and discernment come through the Holy Spirit.
- Romans 12:1–2 – Consider what it means to renew your mind and offer your life fully to God.
- Deuteronomy 18:9–14 – Understand what God’s Word says about divination, omens, and seeking guidance outside of Him.
- Acts 16:16–18 – Observe how Paul dealt with a spirit of divination and how it differs from the Holy Spirit.
Try the SOAP Method
Before you dive into the passages below, use this simple four-step framework to move from head knowledge to heart transformation:
-
Scripture: Write out the key verse or passage. Note the context so you can return to it later.
-
Observation: Ask yourself, “What does this verse actually say?” Jot down who is speaking, to whom, and any words or phrases that stand out.
-
Application: Ask, “How does this truth apply to my life, my leadership, or my use of tools?” Write one practical step you will take in response.
-
Prayer: Turn your application into a short prayer. For example, “Lord, help me to lean fully on You for emotional healing, not on created things.”
Discernment Insight: Take note of how divination always seeks knowledge, direction, or healing through a source that bypasses God’s authority. Discernment recognises not just what something does, but where it comes from and who it glorifies. True spiritual alignment always leads back to Christ, not self, nature, or energy.
Prayer Prompts:
- Holy Spirit, search my heart and show me anything I’ve given spiritual authority to that does not come from You.
- Lord, help me to walk in wisdom and discernment. Make me sensitive to Your Spirit and not the spirit of the world.
- Jesus, I submit every part of my coaching, my methods, my healing, and my growth to You. Be the centre of it all.
Thank you for reading. If this blog helped you see things more clearly, please share it with someone who might be navigating the same questions in silence.

Final Thoughts
As Kingdom leaders, we must recognise that not everything that appears gentle or natural is spiritually neutral.
In a world that offers countless tools for emotional regulation and spiritual healing, we are called to lead with discernment. That means asking hard but necessary questions, not just about what a product claims to do, but where its power originates and what spirit it aligns with. Our responsibility is not just to protect ourselves, but to walk in spiritual integrity for the sake of those we are called to influence and serve.
This is not about fear, suspicion, or legalism. It is about alignment. Alignment with the Word of God, with the leadership of the Holy Spirit, and with the standard of maturity required in this season.
Healing is sacred. It was never meant to be outsourced to energy, rituals, or unnamed forces. When we engage in practices that bypass the Spirit of God, even unintentionally, we risk substituting the Healer for a tool—and no matter how harmless it seems, that shift matters.
We are living in a time when emotional language is easily accepted, but spiritual compromise often goes unnoticed. This is why tone, posture, and depth matter. Not only should we carry truth, but we must carry it with grace. We do not correct from pride or self-righteousness, but from love and wisdom, always remembering that people are not the enemy, spiritual deception is.
Let us commit to being leaders who go deeper. Leaders who ask better questions. Leaders who are not impressed by trends or intimidated by differing views, but who stay anchored in truth. Let our leadership reflect the character of Christ—bold, clear, compassionate, and uncompromising in righteousness.
The world doesn’t need louder opinions. It needs Kingdom voices that carry weight because they carry the Spirit of truth. May we be those voices—set apart, surrendered, and spiritually alert.
Let this not just be a moment of information, but a marker of maturity in your journey.
You are a leader. Now walk in that with authority and alignment.
